1. Who we are, and what you agree to
“readynum” (a working name) is a service that rents you temporary phone numbers for receiving SMS verification codes. The operating entity and its registered address will be stated here on incorporation: [jurisdiction — pending incorporation]. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy.
2. Eligibility
You need to be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract where you live. The service is not offered to anyone under 18, and you may not open an account for someone who is. If we find that an account holder is under 18, we close the account and return any unspent balance the way clause 6 describes.
3. The service
- You rent a phone number for a limited period to receive SMS on a specific service and country route. While rented, the number is allocated to you exclusively.
- The service receives verification codes for you and nothing more. There is no outbound SMS-sending, no voice calls, and no multi-day rental — “rent” here means the short window we hold a number open to catch your code, not ownership of a line over time.
- Numbers are supplied through upstream telecom providers. A route shown as in stock can be bought right now; when it cannot, it is not shown as available. We do not guarantee that any particular route stays in the catalogue.
- Some service and country combinations are unavailable because a supplier, carrier or law prohibits them. We remove them rather than sell what we cannot deliver lawfully.
- Where a page mentions fax, treat it as planned rather than available: no supplier currently provides it, and we do not send or receive faxes today.
- Delivery of an SMS depends on third-party networks we do not control. What we promise instead of a delivery guarantee is the refund rule: if no valid code arrives, you do not pay.
4. The number you rent
- You never own the number. It is allocated to you for the verification window only, and while it is yours the messages for the service you chose come to you.
- When the rental ends the number goes back into the pool and is reassigned to other people later. That is how temporary numbers work — it is what lets them be cheap and disposable rather than a line you keep.
- Because numbers are reused, a message meant for whoever held the number before you can sometimes still arrive. It is not addressed to you, it is not yours, and it does not count as your code — use only the code for the service you ordered. Competitors rarely say this out loud; we would rather you knew.
- A number is for receiving your own verification codes. We do not control, and cannot promise, whether the platform you are verifying with accepts, blocks, or later bans a given number — that decision belongs to that platform, not to us.
5. Your account
- An account needs a working email address — that is where codes, receipts and required notices go.
- Keep your credentials to yourself; activity under your account is treated as yours.
- One account per person unless we agree otherwise in writing.
6. The prepaid wallet
- Your wallet holds prepaid credit spendable only on readynum services. It is closed-loop store credit — not electronic money, not a deposit account, not withdrawable as cash, not transferable to another account, and it earns no interest.
- Your balance never expires.
- The minimum top-up never exceeds the price of one order.
- Automatic refunds for failed orders return spendable credit to your wallet; card refunds return money to the original payment instrument, on request, as the Refund Policy describes. The two are distinct and we keep them labelled that way.
- If you close your account, we return your unspent balance to your original payment method, unless the law requires us to hold it (for example during a fraud investigation).
7. Payments
- No page of ours claims a payment capability we do not have. Ordering is not open, no processor is contracted, and no payment method is named anywhere on this site. When that changes, accepted methods, minimums and the identity of each processor of record will be stated at checkout from a single source.
- Card processing is PCI-compliant and card numbers never touch our servers.
- All prices are shown before you pay; there are no hidden fees. The price shown at the moment you click Rent is the price you pay.
8. Refunds
One refund policy applies, published at /refund-policy, and its text is identical in the app and in the API docs. No unpublished rule binds you: a term you cannot read on that page is not a term.
9. Chargebacks and payment disputes
Refunds run through one published route — the Refund Policy. If a charge looks wrong, use it: we would rather fix a problem than argue about it, and a genuine dispute raised with your bank is your right, which we respect. Raising a card chargeback instead of asking us, or filing a dispute you know to be groundless, is different — it is a breach of these terms, and it can lead to suspension of your account and a hold on your balance while we resolve it.
10. Acceptable use
The service exists for lawful privacy: signups, testing, and receiving your own codes without exposing your personal number. The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. In short: no fraud, no harassment, no evading law enforcement, no bulk spam, no resale of numbers for illegal use, and our numbers may not be used to evade a platform ban or a platform’s verification controls.
11. Third-party platforms
When you use a number to receive a code from another service — a messenger, a marketplace, a bank’s app — you are still bound by that service’s own terms, and it is your responsibility to use our numbers only for lawful verification of accounts that are yours. We are not a party to your relationship with that platform and cannot act for you with it. Nothing here is a way around a platform’s rules or its verification controls; the Acceptable Use Policy says the same, and it is part of these terms.
12. Intellectual property and your licence to use the site
The site, its content and code, and the working name “readynum” are ours. “readynum” is a working name, not a cleared trademark — the same honesty this page keeps about incorporation. You get a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the site to receive your own codes, and nothing more. You may not copy, scrape, resell or redistribute the site, its data, or the numbers, and you may not reverse-engineer the site or try to defeat its technical protections.
13. Using the API
Where we offer an API, its documentation lives at /api-docs and its use is governed by these same terms plus the fair-use and rate limits stated there. API keys are personal to your account: keep them secret, and treat everything done with your key as done by you. The same limits as everywhere else apply — no scraping, no bulk harvesting, and no reselling of numbers or data. Ordering is not open yet, so there is no live, callable endpoint to buy a number today; the API docs describe what will be available when ordering opens.
14. Messages and retention
- Received SMS content is automatically deleted within 24 hours of receipt.
- Minimal billing, transaction and (where required) identity records are retained separately for the periods tax and anti-money-laundering law require — see the Privacy Policy for the schedule.
15. Availability
We aim to keep the service running, and we do not publish an availability figure we have not measured. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”; the concrete protection you hold is the refund rule, not an uptime warranty.
16. Suspension and termination
- We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where the law requires it.
- You may close your account at any time; clause 6 governs what happens to your balance.
- Where we discontinue the service without cause, we give reasonable advance notice by email and return unspent balances.
17. Liability
To the extent the applicable law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for claims arising from the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence — or limits consumer rights that apply mandatorily where you live.
18. Indemnity
If a third party brings a claim against us because you misused the service, or broke the Acceptable Use Policy or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that claim causes us. This does not cut down the consumer protections set out in clause 17: if you use the service as a consumer, you are responsible only for your own acts and breaches, never for someone else’s, and nothing here asks you to give up a right the law gives you.
19. Events beyond our control
Delivery depends on carriers, upstream number suppliers and networks we do not run, as clause 3 says. We are not liable when a failure is caused by something outside our reasonable control — an upstream supplier or carrier outage, a network failure, or government or legal action. This adds no uptime promise we have not made; it names the limits of what we can be held to, and the refund rule still applies when no code arrives.
20. Assignment
We may assign or transfer this agreement — for example when the operating entity is incorporated, or in a corporate reorganisation — and we will tell account holders when we do. You may not assign or transfer your account or your rights under these terms without our written consent.
21. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction — pending incorporation], and its courts have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. This clause is completed on incorporation; until then the placeholder stands, visibly, because inventing a jurisdiction would be worse than admitting the gap.
22. Complaints
If something is wrong, tell us first through the contact page — most things are quickest to fix that way. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you also keep whatever consumer-dispute and online dispute-resolution options the law gives you where you live, and those mandatory protections are not affected by anything in these terms. The specific dispute body and forum are set on incorporation; until then the placeholder in clause 21 stands, and we will not name one we cannot yet stand behind: [jurisdiction — pending incorporation].
23. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms materially, we notify account holders by email before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance; if you do not accept, close your account and clause 6 applies to your balance.
24. Electronic communications
You agree that we can reach you electronically: your codes, receipts, the legal notices these terms require, and any material change to them go to the email on your account (clause 5) and appear on the site. Where the law asks for something to be “in writing”, an email or an on-site notice from us meets that test.
25. Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, it is narrowed just enough to be enforceable, or set aside if it cannot be; the rest stays in full force.
26. Entire agreement and no waiver
These terms, together with the Acceptable Use Policy, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy linked above, are the whole agreement between us about the service. If we do not enforce a right on one occasion, that is not us giving it up — we can still enforce it later.

28. The waitlist offer
While ordering is closed we run a waitlist, and it carries a promise, quoted here word for word as it appears on the site:
“Join the waitlist before launch and your first code is free when ordering opens — one per email on the list.”
- Who it is for: anyone who joins the waitlist with their email before ordering opens. There is no cap on the list — every email that joins before launch qualifies, not a first-few.
- What you get: your first code, free, redeemable once ordering opens. One free code per email address on the list.
- When: it can be redeemed only after ordering opens. It does not mean ordering is open now, and it disappears from the site once ordering opens.
- If you unsubscribe from the waitlist before launch, the offer for that email is forfeited.
- This is a commercial commitment we intend to honour, not a description of a running checkout. We attach no cash value to it.
