Online fax number

Pre-launch — you can read everything, but ordering isn't open yet. Where we are

An online fax number receives faxes over the internet: a sender dials it from a fax machine or a fax service, and the pages arrive as a file rather than on paper. That is a different product from the SMS verification numbers the rest of this catalogue describes: it carries documents, not one-time codes. We have not established fax supply with any of our suppliers — the numbers this site is built to rent are SMS-verification numbers — so nothing here is an offer to sell you a fax number. There is no price and no stock on this page for that reason, and ordering is not open on any route yet.

How an online fax number works

  1. 1

A fax number is dialled, not messaged

A sender puts the pages into a fax machine, or uploads them to an online fax service, and dials the number. The transmission is a call between two fax endpoints — no SMS is involved at any point.

  2. 2

The pages arrive as a file

An online fax number terminates at a service rather than at a machine, so an incoming transmission is stored as a PDF or a TIFF in an account. No paper, no dedicated line, no handset.

  3. 3

    Sending is the other direction

Sending a fax means uploading a document and having the service dial the recipient's fax number for you. A receive-only number does not do that, so it is worth knowing which of the two you need.

  4. 4

    Where readynum stands today

We do not sell fax numbers. Our suppliers sell numbers for SMS verification, and we have not established inbound fax with any of them — so there is no fax route to buy here, and none will be advertised until there is something real behind it.

Fax numbers, in detail

  • Can readynum give me a fax number?

Not today. The suppliers behind this catalogue sell numbers for SMS verification, and we have not established inbound fax delivery with any of them.

Ordering is not open on any route yet, fax included. When it opens, a fax route will be listed here only if we can actually deliver a fax to it.

  • What is the difference between an online fax number and a virtual number for SMS?

A fax number receives documents: the sender dials it and the pages arrive as a file. A virtual number for SMS receives text messages, which is how a one-time verification code reaches you.

They are different transports, so one is not a substitute for the other.

  • Do I need a fax machine or a phone line?

Not with an online fax number — that is the point of one. The number terminates at a service that stores the incoming pages as a file, so nothing has to be plugged in at your end.

  • Do you publish a success rate for fax?

We don't have data for this route yet. We have no fax orders behind us and no supplier reading to pass through, so a percentage here would be invented twice over.

Every success rate on this site is either measured from our own orders — shown with the sample size and the time window — or a named supplier's figure we pass through and label as theirs. Where we have neither, we say so. We never show a number we can't source.
